We are experiencing an issue with bandwidth caused by excessive multicast/unicast traffic over UDP Port 5247 by utilizing the AP mode as multicast-unicast. We have been told that with the version of code we are on, we can disable multicast globally, and utilize mDNS service/profiles and the controller as a bonjour gateway to use features such as Airplay. Can we in fact disable multicast globally and still use mDNS? In our scenario, the clients accessing and using Airplay are on the same subnet as the Apple TV's, but from past experience with testing this, we always has to have multicast enabled globally for this to work. The WLAN's are not locally switched.
