Mobility Express Guest Re-WebAuth/Timeout Period

I have some guest clients that are having to re-webauth every time they boot up or resume from sleep. I'm wondering if there is a CLI setting in Mobility Express that I can use to modify this behavior. Ideally, I'd like the controller to remember guest clients for a few days before requiring re-webauth. Thanks!

Found these commands:

config wlan disable X

config wlan custom-web sleep-client enable X

config wlan custom-web sleep-client timeout X 10080

config wlan enable X

Where "X" is the WLAN ID.

Timeout is 10080 minutes which is 7 days.

show custom-web sleep-client summary

Shows "sleeping" clients

Seems to do what I wanted.

Update:

It appears this actually does not work properly on my 3800 with Mobility Express.

Although clients are registered as sleeping clients, when they reconnect, they are still redirected to the webauth portal.

Then it’s not working properly and you should open a TAC case. The MAC address in the sleeping client should cache that MAC address until that timer expires. These devices are not connecting to another ssid on the same network, correct?

Correct, just this SSID. Same network.

Client is a Chromebook if that changes anything (it shouldn't matter)

I don't have support so all I can do is ask questions here.

I figure it's a bug in ME. Doesn't seem to be the most polished software in my few years of experience with it.

Thanks anyway.

Hard to say. I was never a fan of Mobility Express and preferred a controller. Anyways, with any hardware you use, you need to validate the issue and possibly look at upgrading or downgrading the image. Without support, you would bot be able to download images to do this. Make sure when you are using sleeping client is that the idle timer is set to default (300) and session timer is default, higher than the idle timer or disabled.

When I do a "show wlan X", I have these settings:

Exclusionlist Timeout............................ 180 seconds
Session Timeout.................................. 86400 seconds
User Idle Timeout................................ Disabled
Sleep Client..................................... enable
Sleep Client Timeout............................. 10080 minutes
Sleep Client Auto Auth Feature................... Enabled

Are you saying I should change these?

Thanks.

User idle has to be set lower than session timeout. Having it disabled means that the value would be greater than the session timeout.

What if I disable both (if it allows that)?

Would that work?

Why? How would idle timer be less than session timer if you do that. If you want to try it, go for it, That way you know if that works or not. What I would do is:
Disable the session timer and set the idle timer to default 300 seconds.
