1. ap-type capwap

2. Cisco URWB (Ultra-Reliable Wireless Backhaul) is a specialist point to point and point to multipoint wireless backhaul solution which concentrates on (near) 100% reliability rather than maximizing the speed of the connection.  Cisco acquired the technology and has integrated it into the latest AP models as an option.  It's intended to deliver the ultra reliable wireless data link service required by industrial applications.

"1. Site Survey mode on Cisco Catalyst Wi-Fi 6E access points how to go back to capwap mode"

Use the command:

ap-type capwap

'2. What is the function of URWB mode?"

In simple words, this is an improved traditional Mesh network. Mesh network is when you connect AP to AP in order to create a chain of AP with Root APs and Bridges to interconnect networks using Wi-Fi.

I read here "Warning: Read before you switch back to CAPWAP mode" That means you need to rejoin WLC 9800 before switching back to CAPWAP mode, right?

https://www.jiribrejcha.net/2023/04/new-site-survey-mode-on-cisco-catalyst-wi-fi-6e-access-points/

I have found this warning a bit confuse.

But, if you have DHCP option 43, or DNS resolution for the WLC IP address or if you put the AP in the same VLAN as the WLC,   converting back to capwap, the AP might be able to join the WLC.

If you switch the AP from Site Survey mode back to CAPWAP mode, you will no longer be able to log in via its Console port. The mode change wipes all CAPWAP settings of the AP including credentials. If you proceed with switch to CAPWAP mode, you will have to perform these steps to regain Console port access:

  1. Join the AP to a Catalyst 9800 controller
  2. Create Console port credentials and Enable password in AP Join Profile of the controller (Configuration > AP Join)
  3. Controller automatically pushes these newly created credentials to the AP
  4. You can now login to the Console port of the AP and switch back to Site Survey mode or run other commands

No - the steps are made quite clear below that warning.  The CAPWAP config is wiped so the AP must be joined to a WLC to configure console credentials:

Without doing that you won't be able to login to the console so CAPWAP mode works immediately after you switch mode but console only after you have configured the credentials via WLC.

Join the AP to a Catalyst 9800 controller from the CLI of Site Survey mode?

On this URWB mode, can I configure 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz SSID, adjust channel, and adjust bandwidth?

NO!
URWB mode is not for WiFi service - it's for (datalink) backhaul connections.

I am in capwap mode version 17.16.88. I want to switch to URWB mode. Do I need a compatible version?

You have not specified the AP model.
Check the CLI for available options and refer to the release notes and config guides.

model: IW9165E.

Will I lose any configuration if I switch between capwap mode and URWB mode?

Yes, you will lose all config - as already discussed above:
"The mode change wipes all CAPWAP settings of the AP including credentials. "

Yes, you can. They are normal Access Points but the Root AP will have another AP as client.

On this link you have the instruction to change the RF parameters
