No valid AP manager found for controller

Hi, After upgrade Cisco 5520 WLAN controller from 8.5.151.0 to 8.10.151.0, all Cisco 2802 APs couldn't join controller, however Cisco 2702 AP joins.

By looking into AP console, it says 'No valid AP manager found for controller'

It seems AP downloaded 8.10.151.0 code, but couldn't join controller

 - Tried to factory reset AP hardware, no luck.

 - Management interface has AP manager tick.

 - NTP looks good

 - Both WLAN controller and AP are in same broadcast domain

Does anyone have any advice?

Can you check:

1. If RTU license is activated or not ?

2. If management IP and service port IP is on the same network or on diff . FYI: it must be on diff network

You can also try this command on one AP CLI : capwap ap erase all

Hi Sandeep, RTU is activated and has enough license

Mgmt and service port is in different network

tried capwap ap erase all, no luck, tried factory reset with mode button, no luck

The management and service port does not have connectivity between then... correct?  Take one of the 2802's and place that on the same vlan as the management interface and factory reset the ap using the mode button.  See if the ap joins or not and if you see the same message or a different message.

Post the complete output to the following commands:

  1. WLC:  sh sysinfo
  2. WLC:  sh time
  3. WLC:  sh ap join details <AP MAC ADDRESS>
  4. AP:  sh ip interface brief
  5. AP:  sh version

NOTE:  Do not post screenshots.  Copy-and-past or log the output to a text file and attach it to the response.

Worked with TAC and got bug ID, it seems there is no fix yet

Thanks for the Bug ID.

Now for the pressing question:  Is this bug present in 8.10MR6?

Can you paste the management VLAN configuration here if there's HSRP configured?

May I know if you pointed the gateway of the APs to the HSRP Standby IP address? If yes, can you paste the settings of your management VLAN configuration here?
