Omni-Directional Antennae Coverage

Hi,

As I understand the signal strength of the AP's rabbit ears work in a figure 8 pattern emanating outward from the AP itself. If I use the longer range omni-directional antennae 2400MHZ (manufactured by Cushcraft) I believe the signal strength then changes to a more circular pattern. If so, how far does it reach before another AP would be required? BTW, I am using an ap1200.

Thanks,

Michael

A lot depends on what you have around the area too. I am running 19 AIr 1200's here, and I had a problem with the RF Signal going through certain things. The pattern for the antennas varies with what kind you have. I am using the 6DBI Omni Directional Antenna. As long as you stay below 25 ft. in the air. You should be OK. The signal from this antenna graduily goes down at around a 15% rate down. If you use the max settings you can actually reacha pretty far distance with the antennas.

Thanks
