Partially confused

Hi Folks,

I know that this will probably be a stupid question, but I am looking at deploying some AIR-AP1131AG-N-K9 or AIR-AP1121G-A-K9.

From what I have read these are both 802.11g radios. If a client with an 802.11b card tries to connect the the AP, will connectivity occur? Or does the client need an 802.11g card as well.

I know that if the AP is b/g and a client connect at b, it will force all other clients to 11Mbit.

Thanks.

The default configuration is to also allow 802.11b clients to connect (you can change this so that they can't, if you choose).

It will not slow the 'G" clients down to 'B' speeds, though there is a ("minor") degradation of the throughput for the 'G' clients. exactly how much is a little controversial, but I believe it's generally less than 10% ... perhaps as low as 5% ... "It Depends."

Good Luck

Scott
