Performance issue after update to 8.5.105

Dear All,

this morning I had the bad idea of applying the firmwa update to fix the known bug WA / WPA2 KRACK.

The release that I've installed is 8.5.105 , it's seem to be the last.

After that all of my wifi client , Macosx Android and so on , have very low speeds compared to yesterday.

just to do some example yesterday I was 300-350 Mbps today 100-120 Mbps. All the tests were carried out under the same conditions and through netspeed test and iperf.

did you also notice the same my problem?

Do you have any ideas to solve it ?

Thanks a lot

Best Regards

Enrico

Do you have DCA enabled and if yes, do you run it every few hours? If not, there is a possibility that all APs are running now with 20 MHz channels.
Also, what was your previous version?

DCA means Dynamic Channel Assigment ?

How Can I check it ? Web or cli ?

however I see client connected from 2.4 and from 5ghz .

My previos versioen was 8.5.103

thanks a lot !

Best Regards

Yes, I would check in web gui. it's under wireless - 802.11a - rrm. Alternatively check an AP under monitor and check the channel width.

I cant' find it... sorry:

This looks fine, it's the configured rate (which uses an other algorythm to show the numbers).
So this indeed looks fine. Can you check on a connected client what his data rate is, directly on the client itself?
I assume the issue isn't connected with the connection speed though.
Do you use 802.11r (FT) under the WLANs -> select the SSID -> Security tab?
If not, you're anyway not affected of the KRACK security issues and could savely go back to the previous release.
You do might want to disable the 6 and 9 Mbps rates (on both interfaces), but that's for another time. Check here for reasons:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-1250-series/design_guide_c07-693245.html

in attach my wireless config. The performance issue, extremley low after firmware update

and affected also non wpa/wpa2 network !

Does it make sense ?

How can I downgrade to 8.5.103 or do you think that I have others solutions ?

Thank you so much

Best Regards

Downgrade works exactly the same as upgrade. Simply download the software you want and upload it to the controller. Thanks for the screenshot, it shows that you use Mobility Express.
See here for the upgrade manual (downgrade works exactly the same):
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn85.html#upgrade-instructions
I have never used Mobility Express, so I don't know if there is also an easier way.
Have you checked if the LAN port of the accesspoint is running on 1 Gbps? Maybe the issue is on the LAN side.
