Persistent Interference Devices on Channel 0 without Timestamp

Hello Cisco WLAN experts,

I have several questions to You regarding the following output from a 3802-AP on a 5520-WLC running V8.10.183.0

show ap auto-rf 802.11-abgn ZOM-AP534

Gehrig_W_0-1685092201738.png

Why does the output contain "0" for Channel ?

Why is there no time stamp in "Last Update Time"

When I compare to the output of a 2702i-AP nearby, I can see meaningful channel info:

show ap auto-rf 802.11b ZOM-AP40

Gehrig_W_1-1685092410827.png

But also here, a time stamp is missing. Any idea why ?

I have noticed also that the Web-Gui is no longer showing this Persistent Interference Device info for the 3802-model under:

Wireless -> Access Points -> Radios -> 802.11b/g/n/ax

For the 2702i-AP I can see this information also in the Gui under this path

Is this a bug or a new feauture in this release ?

Kind regards

Wini

The missing clean air info sounds like a bug.
Apart from suggesting you update to 8.10.185.0 not much that can be done with AireOS now.

> I have noticed also that the Web-Gui is no longer showing this Persistent Interference Device info for the 3802-model under:
Wireless -> Access Points -> Radios -> 802.11b/g/n/ax
- That menu lists the AP radios - not interferers.  Still working fine for me.  If you don't see your AP there have you maybe re-assigned the radio to 5GHz (FRA)?  Do you see that AP under Wireless -> Access Points -> Radios ->  Dual-Band Radios ?

Hello Rich, thank You for Your reply.

You are not correct with Your statement.

Wireless -> Access-Points -> Radios ->802.11b/g/n/ax is showing also Interferes:

Who knows why the timestamp for "Last Update Time" is missing for the Microwaven oven ?

Is it because the influence is still active ?

By the way, I would have expected this Monitoring-information to be better shown under

Monitor -> Access-Points -> Radios -> 802.11b/g/n/ax

Maybe something for the next Software-Release.

Kind regards

Wini

You are not correct with Your statement.
You are viewing the Detail for a single AP from the list.  I am referring to the list.  If your AP is missing from the list you may be looking at the wrong list?

When I look at a 3802 I see: "Could not retrieve persistent device information because there are no registered persistent devices." in red.
If you don't see anything there that might be because the CleanAir process has crashed so check the CleanAir Operational Status.
If it's not UP then you should probably update to 8.10.185.0 to get the fix for https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCwd21996 which leaves CleanAir down most of the time.

Maybe something for the next Software-Release.
Very unlikely - at this point we're not going to see much other than fixes for critical security vulnerabilities in AireOS for the remaining lifetime.  Any enhancements - zero chance.  Enhancements will only be in IOS-XE for 9800.

Hello Rich,

thank You for this information.

I don't think that teh CLeanair Process has crashed on the shown 3802-AP.

It's output can be seen on the command-line

show ap auto-rf 802.11-abgn ZOM-AP534

Back to the intial questions ple

Why does the output contain "0" for Channel ?

Why is there no time stamp in "Last Update Time"

By the way, on 9800-platform, the only thing changed is the Class Type.

It shows "MW Oven" instead of "Microwave Oven".

This is not a good improvement in my eyes by the way.

Kind regards

Wini
