Level 1

I have an installation with both AIR-CT5508 and AIR-CT8510 controllers and 3602 access points. We have a couple og log messages that we are unable to find out what means. The installations being done together with a costumer that is very keen on validating that things are works as they should. So pleas help under stand this.

Both 8510 and 5508 installations are running 7.3.101.0 with HA AP SSO

Any help would be very welcome. I have searched and the usual channels and found close to nothing.

On the WLC (Both 5508 and 8510) there are a lot of these messages.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*spamApTask4: Jan 25 16:09:50.151: #LWAPP-4-DATA_PLANE_ECHO: spam_lrad.c:29713 AP AP5057.a858.b845 reported timeout communicating to controller on data plane.

On many access points there a a lot of theses (from show ap eventlog "AP"):

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jan 25 19:41:10.999: %EVT-5-NTC: CAPWAP Received SPAM_VENDOR_ID_PAYLOAD

Jan 25 19:41:10.999: %EVT-5-NTC: Vendor subtype HA_FAST_HEARTBEAT_RESPONSE_PAYLOAD

Jan 25 19:41:10.999: %EVT-4-WRN: Unsupported Vendor SubType 61

And finally we also have this on the WLC. Does not sound nice:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*mmListen: Jan 25 14:21:17.300: #OSAPI-5-MUTEX_UNLOCK_FAILED: osapi_sem.c:1087 Failed to release a mutual exclusion object. mutex unlock failed, not owned by the calling thread.

Tracebacks normally mean an IOS bug or a hardware failure.  Have you considered upgrading to 7.4.100.0?

If you search this forum, you will find post regarding a lot if issues with HA and running 7.3.101.0. We have had to upgrade clients on HA to v7.4, but PI 1.3 and the MSE code for that didn't come out yet. You might try to upgrade to the latest 7.3.112.0 as that fixes only one issue with the HA regarding the primary loosing the license.
