Prime 3.8 Filtering Access Points on new Site heatmaps not possible

Hello Cisco WLAN-experts,

I would like to deactivate the heatmap for some of the shown WLAN APs

on one of my floors to check the signal for a new WLAN AP for example.

See picture attached.

But I cannot find this feature anymore on the new map representation.

On the old deprecated Site mas layout it was easy to find this feature.

Via Floor settings on the left page down to AP heatmaps, which contained a list of all APs.

Here it was possible to deselect single or several WLAN APs from heatmap distribution.

On the new Floor maps I can find only the blue arrow on the right side.

This opens a panel which shows the Selector for all APs and the number of APs for this floor.

I can only deselect all APs but not a single AP. (See attached picture)

Does anyone know how I can deselect a single or several WLAN APs from showing up in the new heatmaps ?

Thank You for Your help in advance

Kind regards

Wini

What you are missing is that you need to scroll all the way down on the list where the ap names are. You will see a button to apply the filter. That will now refresh the map showing the information you provided in the filter.

the manual still says this is possible

Cisco Prime Infrastructure 3.8 User Guide - Use Wireless Site Maps [Cisco Prime Infrastructure] - Cisco

Filtering Access Points Heatmap Data

Access point heatmap filtering options include the following:

  • Heatmap Type

    • Coverage—If you have monitor mode access points on the floor plan, you have a choice between IDS or coverage heatmap types. A coverage heatmap excludes monitor mode access points.

    • .....
  • Select the access point check box(es) to determine which heatmaps are displayed on the image map.

Click OK when all applicable filtering criteria are selected.

Exactly,

But I can only disable the heatmap for all Aps with this checkbox.

Where is the list of Aps, where I can select them individually ?

Kind regards

Wini

Hello pieterh,

thank you for thsi tip.

I tried this already without success.

Even when I deselect an AP under Data, the heatmap is displayed for this AP also.

See here:

if the button  Scott Fella  refers to is not there, and you are using a AAA server

then you currently have insufficient rights for this option
maybe on the AAA server the settings for your role have not been updated, after a Prime update
NB! with a Prime update, the menu-stucture may have been changed
and when the menu in Prime changes, the tasks a user can perform needs to be updated on the AAA server

Here is a screenshot where to find the apply filter

Hello Scott,

thank You very much for this helpful tip.

The Apply Button is not visible on first sight. Even with only a handful of APs.

By scrolling down, I was able to use it now to display the heatmap without the deselected APs.

Isn't this not a very hidden feature on Your Prime ?

Imagine that I have floors with over one hundred WLAN APs.

The manual also states no word about the fact, that one have to scroll down to find this hidden button.

Would it not be much easier to place the Apply button into the headline, where the filter statement is visible at first sight ?

Maybe something to forward to the programmer for the next SW-Release.

Thank You very much again for this helpful tip.

Thanks alos to pieterh.

Greetings from Frankonia.
