RAP to RAP - 1552

Hello,

I need to know if i can connect RAP to RAP and maintain redundancy with connection to WLC.

My environment is like this :

I have one 1552 with the gigabit ethernet connected to the gigabit ethernet to another device that has a point-to-point link with another device where have a ethernet connection with a switch in the same broadcast domain where i have my WLC.

Next to this 1552 i have another 1552 that have the same situation, both with omnidirectional antenna.

I would like to have a Mesh connection with these two 1552 in 5Ghz, because if some point-to-point link is down i need redundancy to the WLC and my network, because i have some clients connected in the 2.4 Ghz in both Access Points.

Thank You.

RAP's don't join another RAP unless the Ethernet port goes down or they loose the link to the WLC.  So if one RAP looses Ethernet connectivity to the WLC, then it will drop down and become a MAP.  This will cause downtime since the RAP had to change to be a MAP and establish a connection.

Thanks,

Scott

If the RAP can't reach the WLC via the ethernet connection, it should switch to MAP mode, and try to find the WLC over the air

Yes, if the etherne connection to the WLC returns, the RAP should try to connect via the ethernet.

Just one more question.

If i have ethernet connection i will see in the WLC Wireless --> Access Point screen the two Access Points in the RAP Mode.

And if one of them can't reach the WLC, it will try to associate with the RAP and i will see automatically in the Wireless --> Access Points screen the Access Point in the MAP mode ? If i have again ethernet connection the MAP will return to RAP mode automatically ?

Thank You Scott and Stephen.
