Hi All,
I have a question regarding a wireless network to one of our regional WAN attached offices.
Most of our offices have wireless deployed using local access controllers and AP's, what I would like to do is in this new office (very small) is to install an 1140 series AP that would be configured to work with an 4400 series access controller at the business H.Q., is this possible, what would your recommendations be for this scenario.
Thanks for your input.

That's just the help I was looking for, many thanks.
I can see that there are two types of 1142 available, stand alone and controller based, I guess for this type of installation I would use the controller based device?

Hey Murray,
I few comments I would like to add that may hep you.
If you purchased either 1142 model AP or LAP you can interchnage them meaning to autonmous or controller based via upgrade the firmware. So do think you are stuck if you purchased autonmous and you want to go contoller.
Also, the 4400 is end of life. I would suggest looking at the 5508 or the smaller 2500 series depending on your budget and access need.
enjoy!

And to add one more thought to the mix Murray,
As George said the 4400 is EoL BUT that does not mean you have to decommision it or throw it away.
Depending on your design and desires you can always use the 4400 as an anchor controller in the DMZ to host the guest wireless ssid's.
I suggest talking to your local Cisco SE who is familiar with your design and he can tell you from a 30,000 foot view about such a design.
