HI all ¡¡
I'm studing to obtain ccnp but i have some doubts in the wirelles chapter. I hope anyone can help me...
I add a image to talk about...
In the image you have f 2 SSID in the same LAP, you need only one vlan to carry al traffic to the wlc. Finally you need 2 vlans(one for ssid 1 and the another for ssid 2.
¿Why in the imagen all traffic carryes use vlan z?
Finally you use a trunk , one for the ssid A and another for the ssid B. How its possible to carry the traffic of the 2 ssid using only one vlan???

Hi,
The catch here is.. The port on which the WLC is connected on the switch should be a trunk, then the ports the APs are getting conencted should be a access port (Just to fetch the IP to AP). Rest all communication happens through the LWAPP or the CAPWAP tunnel, which is nothing but a logical tunnel which will encapsulate the wired frame with additional stuffs and sent over till the AP by the WLC.
lemme know if this answered your question..

Ok.
The wlc its capable to distinguish the frames to both ssid. This traffic pass using the tunneling.
But now i have a last doubt. How to associate for example SSID A with VLAN A¿?
Thanks ¡¡

Hi,
On the Autonomous AP this is done by mapping each SSID to a VLAN.. the same way in the WLC as well.. however over here its done on the WLC so that the info is propogated till the AP in the tunnel.. In the Unified terminology the term SSID is called as a WLAN. WLAN is just not the SSID.. that is..
WLAN = SSID + Security + mapped Dynamic interface (Nothing but VLAN).
This will be pushed to the AP in the LWAPP or CAPWAP tunnel..
This info is in depth given in CCNA Wireless exam guide by Brandon James Carrol, i guess.. its on page 147 or around.. not sure though.. studied from that long back..

Im not sure...
For example, in the image of the first post...
I use vlan z to connect the wlc and the ap.This vlan is used only to can provide an ip in the LAP.
In this wired conection the traffic of the 2 SSID pass using the tunel ¿and ussing vlan z? THe tunnel its wired or its wirelles tunnel?
Finally i make a trunk port to connect the WLC with the network. In this trunk i use 2 vlans one for ssida and another for ssidb...
How is it possible to associate ssid A to vlan A?Its not necessary to make any special command?? How it can asociate correctly frames of ssid A to vlan A and not to VLAN B...¿¿??
Maybe because when you configure a SSID in the WLC or LAP you need to map it with a VLAN?
Thanks and sorry, its difficult for me talk in english.

Hi,
Q1 >> In this wired conection the traffic of the 2 SSID pass using the tunel ¿and ussing vlan z? THe tunnel its wired or its wirelles tunnel?
ANS - Yes the Traffic wil pass through the tunnel using VLAN Z, the tunnel is neither WIred Nor Wireless.. its a Logical tunnel.
Q2 >> Inally i make a trunk port to connect the WLC with the network. In this trunk i use 2 vlans one for ssida and another for ssidb...
How is it possible to associate ssid A to vlan A?
ANS - Mapping is done on the LWAN configuration (Each WLAN will be mapped to specific Dynamic interfaces (Dynamic interfaces are nithing but VLANS)).
Q3 >>Its not necessary to make any special command??
ANS - No special command are required.
Q4 >> How it can asociate correctly frames of ssid A to vlan A and not to VLAN B...¿¿??
ANS - Since you are mapping the SSID to the Dynamic interface which is the VLAN, on the WLAN settings. this will take care of assigning correct frames.
lemme know if this answered your question..

Ok Surrenda, now i understend all better¡¡¡
Reallly all the questions when i have doubts are configured in the WLC or the LAP and not in the switches ¡¡¡¡
Thanks ¡¡¡
