SP WIFI Eogre

Dear ALL,

• Please could someone shed some light on the subject Ethernet Over GRE what is the RFC #
• Where could I find documentation on How to implement such a solution to offload Mobile network to Wifi network with real examples
• I tried to use Cisco feature navigator to find if AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9 and AP-CAP2702-E and WLC 4400 are capable of supporting EoGRE but could not answer it,please if you have documentation or on how to find that it will be heplful

Cisco wireless access points and wireless LAN controllers are not router so they can't understand or support Ethernet over GRE as this feature is found only in routers. 

The only way for you to get EoGRE with an AP is when you get the ISR G2 with an AP imbedded in them.  They are the 860, 880 & 890.

thanks for the answer, but  I m a bit confused since I could not found some direct information on that subjet I went the other way looking for bugs related to Eogre and here I found that https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCut74339

may be  The routers especialy a asr5K or asr1K playing as MAG can  terminate this EoGRE tunnel that start may be from a wlc or an independent AP

Please clarify.

I do not believe you're affected by this bug.  If you look under "Known Affected Release" version 8.1.14.21 is actually a BETA firmware version.

I didnot reach this stage yet. (there is no implementation yet )

I m just wondering if this EogRE is supported by AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9 and AP-CAP2702-E and WLC 4400.

the example of BUG I ve provided is just for  saying that may be the WLC support EoGRE  and at the same time may be negate with an example (as you stated before WLC ..is not a router and does not support EoGRE) 

please correct me

You can't configure EoGRE on the WLC.  You need a router to run the configuration.
