Hi Guys,

Based on your experience, should I turn on SSH on access points that run on LWAP mode? Or SSH access only to the WLC is enough? What are the pros and cons if I turn on the SSH on those access point?

Thank you.

You need ssh to the WLC as a minimum if using CLI or running debugs. SSH on the AP is nice if only you are troubleshooting and TAC for example wants commands ran from the AP.

As per my expreiences SSH to WLC is enough but if you want to see the LAP configuratoion or any others setting then you can enable SSH on AP as well by using WLC or Cisco Prime.

Here is the command to enable SSH on ALL AP by one shot:

(WLC) >config ap ssh enable all

after that ..you need to set a username and password by entering:

(WLC) >config ap username password all

I have SSH enabled to the controllers and AP at all times.

Telnet is disabled.
