Trying to login to Cisco AP1262

Hi,

My name is Karun. I have a Cisco Aironet AP1262 which I am trying to access using the AP's webpage in order to change the mode to 802.11n and also change the security scheme and transmit mode to 2x2 MIMO. Can you let me know how do I access the router's webpage on a browser to configure it.

Hi Karun,

To access your AP's webpage, assuming you are connected to the same network as your AP, simply open your web browser and enter the AP's local IP address in the address bar.

Best,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. I am not connected to the same network(that's because I forgot the password set for the AP) and it's a standalone one not connected to the internet. I would like to know if I can do that by connecting the ethernet port and then accessing the AP's settings.

BR,

Karun

Very sorry for the delay!

As an eSupport Content Developer, I work mainly with Cisco Small Business products, so unfortunately I'm not quite the expert at enterprise equipment such as the the Aironet AP 1262.

However, I've looked into the administration guide and it appears that connecting to the Ethernet port and accessing a web configuration page is not an option for this device. Instead, you will need to connect to your AP's console port and configure it via terminal.

(Page 64, under the “Connecting to the 1040, 1140, 1200, 1230, 1240, 1250, 1260, and 2600 Series Access Points Locally” header: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/15_2_4_JA/configuration/guide/scg15-2-4_book.pdf)

This is my understanding, but I've contacted another technician for confirmation. I am still awaiting a response and will get back to you when I have confirmation.

Best,

Andrew

Dear Karun,

I do agree with Andrew here. Awssuming that you are using it in CAPWAP mode, you could only access it through console port. Its better to use these AP's in LWAPP mode instead.
