Virtual WLC Automatic Rebooting

We have VWLC installed and registered with 32 APs. I started to upgrade the VWLC to 8.10.185 and pre-downloaded the image to all the APs. When the VWLC upgrade page gives the message suggesting to pre-download the image to all APs and restart now after the pre-download. We did not reboot the VWLC after the pre-downloaded image to the APs but after 12 hours the next day morning the WLC is automatically rebooted and all the APs started to boot with a new image. Now the customer wants to know the Root cause report for what caused the WLC to reboot automatically without anyone manually rebooting the WLC.

Configure a syslog server on the virtual controller , then afterwards examine the logs send to the syslog server around the reboot (before and after) ; sometimes this can provide insights ,

Dear Marce,

Now it is fine. This rebooted once when we kept it after uploading the code and pre-downloaded the code to all APs. We usually reboot the WLC immediately after the download but the customer asked to do it the next day morning with downtime. But it is suddenly rebooted without human intervention. Now the customer wants an RCA report for it. Root cause Analysis report.

   - Well ,  then  the lesson(s) learned is to take the action from my initial reply before the whole upgrade process...

Did you check crash logs - the WLC might have crashed and reloaded during that time?
