Hi all,
Can someone explaining why the following occurs?
PC(vWLC) ----access port vlan10----- switch ------trunk----- router (fa0/0.10: 172.16.10.1)
vWLC management ip : 172.16.10.5, vlan identifier 10
When I set the vlan id (controller > interfaces > vlan id) to 10, the vWLC cannot ping the router subinterface. When I remove the vlan id, the ping is successful. Why?
note: switch port connecting to the PC is set to vlan 10. vWLC is on VMware workstation.
Also, would I need a nic that supports 802.1q to play around with roaming?
I have a physical WLC and a virtual wlc

Hi!!! In your case, Vlan identifer for management interface must be 0 (native). Why do you need nic that supports 802.1q, this controller works only in flexconnect mode, data traffic goes through Acces Point and control traffic (which includes and roaming) goes through management interface. No, but of course you can do a sophisticate and pass control and data traffic through native vlan management interface.
