if i  enable Controller Configuration Backup is that included  in the server backup?

and can the controller configs be specifically  extracted from the server backup?

You have a repository with your WLC backup configurations. With this repository you can restore your configuration back to the WLC via the WCS or just tftp or FTP.

in the backup folder i see files with *.nmsbackup extension

how would i restore specific WLC from that file with tftp?

You need to specify to backup the WLC configuration.  Thats for the WCS.

Its the background task that needs to be enabled for WLC configuration backup.

that was my original question/

so to fully backup the server and WLC configs, i need to:

1. set a server backup under Background Tasks>>WCS Server Backup

2. set WLC backup to TFTP under Background Tasks>>Controller Configuration Backup

correct?

When backing up WLC configs.

There is no choice of keeping only X last backups

how is this usually managed ?

Well I manage it manually. So basically it collects and I will delete any old configs that I know for sure I don't need. Nice to have some old backups just in case.
