I have installed a Wireless LAN Controller 2504 with firmware version 8.0.110 and I have configured a WLAN with web authentication on which users must pass by a proxy server to get internet access. Therefore browsers are manually configured to forward traffic to a proxy server on standard port 3128
The web-auth proxy redirection works well with a HTTP home page in my browser but it does not work with a HTTPS home page.
However, I enabled web-auth proxy redirection on WLC, and having checked with Wireshark, the traffic is sent to the proxy server but it is not redirected to the captive portal.
Is it because when HTTPS traffic is going trough a proxy, we don't have any HTTP GET packet that the WLC is not able to redirect to the captive portal?
Is there any workaround?
I couldn't find topics concerning HTTPS through proxy.
