What OID to get a specific user's stats?

kmleon

Level 1

Here's a specific example, I gather this information via the web interface by going to the Associations table, then click the MAC address/link of a connected client:

MAC: 00:04:5a:ef:bf:70

To Station:

Total Bytes OK:4963928

How what is the OID for that value to be retrieved via SNMP?

Thanks.

That is wonderfully helpful information thank you.

However something seems to be amiss on my end.

"

# snmpget 10.0.0.13 -c communityname 1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.5

Error in packet

Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.

Failed object: system.sysUpTime.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.5

"

The same with .4 and .3 OID also with 3.1, etc.

the AWCVX-MIB.oid file is in the /usr/share/mibs dir, and the environment variable is setup for MIBS=ALL.

Been reading through the snmp and cisco manuals for so many hours/days now, I'm probably mixing up some information.

Any way to narrow down why it won't accept those values?

Thank you.

you have to use snmpwalk. The root OID is what I wrote!

for example:

snmpwalk -M /root/.snmp -m all 172.16.11.2 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.5

Very helpful, thank you.

Sorry to keep asking for so much hand-holding, once I see how this works, it should be much easier then.

So, here's what happens now using that information:

[root@server mibs]#snmpwalk 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.5

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.5

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.3

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.3.1

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.3.1.1

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.3.0

[root@server mibs]# snmpwalk -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m all 10.0.0.13 community .1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.3.2

Nothing "Appears" to happen, to return of data, do I need to find matching instances or something that have data? Are these not returning anything because they are empty instances? There were about 20 users connected during this time.

Thanks.

I can't understand!

What firmware you use?

Use the 12.01T1 firmware and the mibs for this release.

What kind of aironet you use?

1200AP, 350AP,Bridge,wgb?

Already on 12.01T1 firmware for AP1200.

Have all the mibs I could get from the tar file at:

ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/contrib

and

mibs/v1

All MIBS are on Linux redhat 7.3 system in /usr/share/snmp/mibs

Have environment variable MIBS="ALL" on linux system.

Using ucd-snmp-utils-4.2.5-7.73.0, ucd-snmp-4.2.5-7.73.0, ucd-snmp-devel-4.2.5-7.73.0

Do I need to load the mibs file(s) onto the AP or does that happen automatically when I upgraded the firmware back then?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi

I also use 12.01T1 and 1200. :) I can 't understand why you can't query the AP.

You do not have to load the MIB in the AP......

Try to walk the AP from full root without using any mibs!

For example:

snmpwalk 172.16.11.2 community

if it can't works check the config of the AP

(1)You have switch snmp enable in the snmp menu

(2) you have a username that have snmp capability in the security setup/user information menu. The username which have snmp capability is the community name. Or you could also add community in the express setup this method is the same. When you add the community the ap automatically create a username with snmp capability.

(3) Enable user manager in the security setup/user manager.

After this try the snmpwalk.

I hope this helps....

I don't have any trouble getting tons of snmp information, I just can't get any of the information specific to what you listed.

I can do a snmpwalk or snmpget's of many, many OID but number or name, but cannot get anything for the users/clients connected at all.

1,2,3 that you just suggested are all verified.

Any more ideas?

Thanks.

Hello:)

Try this!

snmptable -M -m all

For example:

snmptable -M /root/.snmp -m all 172.16.11.2 public awcDot11TpFdbTable

snmptable -M /root/.snmp -m all 172.16.11.2 public awcTpFdbDdpTable

snmptable -M /root/.snmp -m all 172.16.11.2 public awcDot11TpFdbTable

I really hope this helps

Hello,

I have the OID for find the number of nodes associates to a AP

(1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12.1.8.0).

Whats the OID to to get all the MAC address of on the nodes associated.

for example, if 4 nodes are connected how do i get thier MAC address.

I want to use that to find stolen laptops, here on the university campus.

Presently use the log files on the syslog server to do that.

Is ther a more efficient way ?
