Wifi network painfully slow

Hi board i have a 2802 AP running Mobility Express (8.7.106.0) and have a 3702 AP (8.7.106.0). They are connected to a cisco 2960-s 48 port POE+ switch. If i do a speed test on a device on the LAN i get 350Mbps all day. If i'm on the wifi network i seldom get around 150ish but mostly under 60Mbps and lately under 10Mbps. Most of the times when i move to the other end of the house my device will have full bars but will timeout because of no Internet. I've invested soo much time and research into this and in trouble shooting i'm just discouraged and at a loss. I've gone through the Best Practices and the only thing i dont have checked is Radius settings and WLAN Configuration (pic 1) its doesnt offer much info for a fix (pic 2) .

Here are some details of the controller (pic3), ap (pic4) and switch ports (pic5)

this is my RF Optimization settings 1122

Try to connect on 5ghz if possible. Also change your data rate to something higher like 24 or 36 and see if that helps. You will get better throughput on the 5ghz.

Also disable optimized roaming.

raised the data rates to 36, disabled Optimized Roaming and created a 5ghz only WLAN, its definitely helped... i'm getting a range of 70-200 on two different.. lets hope it doesnt degrade over time..

thanks for your recommendations... anything else i can try?

That should be good. It’s probably that your 2.4ghz power was high and your devices were preferring that. If you use a single SSID you should lower the power on the 2.4ghz to 3-6dbi lower than the 5ghz. You can always set your 5ghz power at maximum since it’s in your house. That is what I would do.

Also I have better luck with only using uni-1,2 &3 and not using the uni-2 extended. For home you should be okay removing the extended channels.

so under Wireless Settings > Access Points, when i changed the transmit power from automatic on the 2.4ghz and 5ghz the new 5ghz only wifi network i created cant be found by the clients.. is there somewhere else to change the power? i cant find it in the GUI..

also you mentioned "uni-1" whats that? looked trough the gui and couldnt find it.

another thing i noticed is that if i disconnect the 3702 ap and just have the 2802 i got some fast speeds i mean really good. So there is something the 3702 is doing thats killing me. this has always been the case even when i had it before the 2800 i had the 3702 in autonomous mode and it was just as slow (i bought the 2800 thinking the controller would fix this but apparently not.)

any ideas on my the 3700 is soo slow? it should be a fast as the 2800.

Power lever should be 1-8, 1 being the highest and 8 the lowest. The fist 4 channels in the 5Ghz is uni-1, the next set of 4 is uni-2, the last 5 channels in the list is uni-3 and channel 165 is only used outdoors, so really only 4 you should use.

Thanks. I’ll review the link.

been messing around with power and assigned the channels but everything goes to crap when i power on the 3702ap. that ap is just slow. i've tested with on of the extras from work and its the same thing. are the 3700s just not good?RF3.PNG

the 3700 ap is pulling 15.4 should it be using more power than that?

I have ran 3700’s with excellent results.

Yes it should take more power. The 3700 will disable some antennas when running with reduced power, thus reduced performance.

sorry but what do you mean by saying take more power? are you talking about the 15.4 from the switch? if so i'll have to google how do so in the cli the gui just have auto..

on the other hand while searching other thread someone said to try disabling Application Visibility Control and 802.11k and that have definitely helped some

You should always start out with the basics.  You start enabling features and changing setting, you will never know what broke.

true.. i try to implement one at a time and give it sometime for the changes to be reflected and reverse it if needed.

edit: so i found this thread discussing power for the 3702
https://supportforums.cisco.com/t5/other-wireless-mobility-subjects/poe-power-draw-at-pse-for-cisco-ap-3702/td-p/2477087
but no details on how to raise the power to the mentioned 16.8, i guess to google i'll go

edit: #2 the ports the APs were connected to were not defined in the GUI so it can autodetect, just changed them to AP and now getting 16.8w sweet! now gotta give it some time and see
