Wireless Client deleted due to invalid FTIE. Update client supplicant.

Recently, we've been encountering numerous errors on the 9800 WLC   that are being logged in Cisco DNA Center.

One such error is "Client deleted due to invalid FTIE. Update client supplicant." This error seems to be occurring exclusively on Apple devices such as iPhones, Macs, and iPads.

Here are a few points regarding this issue:

1. How can I search for this error when accessing the WLC console?

2. Cisco bug ID https://bst.cisco.com/quickview/bug/CSCwa48648 doesn't seem relevant to our situation because we don't have "Roam Over the DS" enabled.

3. Thus far, we've only received complaints from one building in our environment. Searching the WLC logs would help me determine if this issue is occurring elsewhere.

                       - Issue the command show logging   you can also checkout  https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/217738-monitor-catalyst-9800-kpis-key-performa.html#anc5 (e.g.)
Or engage in full client debugging according to : https://logadvisor.cisco.com/logadvisor/wireless/9800/9800ClientConnectivity  client debugs can be analyzed  with Wireless Debug Analyzer

.     -  What software version is the controller using ; go for 17.9.5
      -  What supplicant is used on the clients , is it up to date ?

Review the controller configuration with the CLI command show tech wireless and feed the output from that into : Wireless Config Analyzer

The "show logging" command does not display any entries for the specific error, although DNAC is receiving notifications about FTIE deletions from the WLC.

The controller software version is 17.12.2, and the WAPs are running software version 17.12.2.35 (with a boot version of 1.1.2.4).

The devices experiencing the issue are Apple devices. your question to  is supplicant being up to date, you meant software is up to date ?

Hello SamNetech
We have a similar issue with IPhones 13 und 14. Did you ever resolve this/find out more?
We are running 17.9.5 on the WLCs.

thanks
