Wireless LAN IOS upgrade

Hello Team,

 

We are using Cisco Wireless Model- AIR-CT2504-K9.We are planning for IOS upgrade.

Current version - 8.2.151.0

Want to upgrade - 8.5.140.0

Could please suggest what are the precautions/steps needs to be taken before doing this.

Also provide procedure for ios upgrade.

 

Below APs are connected . Will it support new code.Kindly help.

AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9

Hi

   Pretty straightforward. If we were talking about a very large environment, I´d recommend to pre-download AP images, but, that´s not the case.  Just go for it.

The first step in any upgrade is to check the compatibility of the WLC/ APs with the code version. In your case they all are supported on 8.5.140: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

 

I will quite often do a pre-download to the APs. 

Plan on at least 30-40 minutes for the APs to reload, upgrade etc when you hit reload on the WLC

Read the Release Notes very carefully. It is not possible to go straight from 8.2.X.X to 8.5.X.X without upgrading to 8.3.X.X first.
