Wireless Mesh IP Addressing

Hello,

I am looking to build a Outdoor wireless mesh with approx 250-5000 AP's on completion. This mesh will also have the requirement for supporting ethernet bridging. I have read every guide and can find nothing related to how the mesh APs show be IP's. I am just wondering on whether it is best practice to have the AP's in the same subnet? or if each RAP should have a subnet? any experiences or info would be appreciated.

Thanks

D

Hi,

If those are 5000 APs then offcourse you need different subnets. But if it is 500 then I don't think you required different - different subnet. Seamless roaming is main goal on the wifi if client will move from one ap to another ap.
