WLC 2504 Software update

Hello.

As a private person, with no tech support contract, is there a legitimate way to obtain an updated version of the software for an EOL product?

I'm trying to build a wifi lab using a WLC 2504. The software is too old and I can't connect the Light.AP due to expired certificates. And the present OS is too old to help me go around this problem.

(I was hoping that a version from 2016 will be open for download)

Official answer NO, you will not get it officially.

but if you know what version you like to upgade, Google can provide many images, and since you mentioned LAB, you ok to use, not to resell.

Read and follow these steps carefully.  

1. Read Cisco IOS XE Software for Catalyst 9800 Series and Cisco AireOS Software for Cisco WLC Flexible NetFlow Version 9 Denial of Service Vulnerability.
2. Scroll down to the Customers Without Service Contracts section carefully.
3. Go to the Cisco website and find the complete filename of the firmware (LINK).
4. Contact Cisco TAC and politely ask them to publish the file (step #3).  

IMPORTANT: 

• Do NOT call Cisco TAC.  Contact Cisco Entitlements Team (they are the first contact before the case gets forwarded to TAC) first.  
• Action this immediately, someone in Cisco is removing the Customers Without Service Contracts section and this opportunity will not be there long.
