Hello,
I have a pair of very EOL WLC 4402s that I am trying to set up for my church. Unfortunately one of them is running a slightly older version of code and will not let me enable them to allow APs to connect. I need to enter the following commands but these are not available in the code running on the second WLC.
config ap lifetime-check mic enable
config ap lifetime-check ssc enable
The working WLC is running...
(DRC Controller) >show boot
Primary Boot Image............................... Code 7.0.252.0 (default) (active)
Backup Boot Image................................ Code 7.0.240.0
And the non-working WLC is running...
(Cisco Controller) >show boot
Primary Boot Image............................... Code 7.0.235.3 (default) (active)
Backup Boot Image................................ Code 7.0.235.3
I have called TAC but since the WLCs are not covered under a support contract they can't open a case. They suggested I email web-help at cisco dot com and I have tried this now and then they also suggested I reach out here.
Can anyone provide a location where I can download a newer version of code for the second WLC? Or alternatively is there a way for me to copy the code off of the working unit and then I can upgrade the non-working unit. I know this is very old gear but I would appreciate any help if anyone is out there and is able to.
Thanks,
John

- As far as I remember correctly the life-time check enable disable commands where introduced in aireos 8.3 , which that controller can not run , check https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html and look at Table 8

Thanks @marce1000
I can confirm my WLC running the 7.0.252.0 does have the life-time check options available and am able to set it to allow APs to connect to it. I need a copy of this code to install on the second controller so it will also allow APs to connect and I can set up a redundant configuration.

- Yeah , according to https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuq19142 , you are correct, I don't think you can copy aireos software from one controller to another, opinions may vary.

Just as an update Cisco was so not helpful in this instance. They would not provide a code file for me to download. I ended up finding another solution.
Thanks,
John

- Remember that you are using a product that is completely end of life/support any company would 'do the same'
