I am installing a new  5508 controller and  i have a management  interface mapped to  port 1  and serveral wlans also tied to port 1. Port 1  is trunked to the Core switch. I am able  to ping  the wlans from the core and ping their default gateways  from the  controller.  I am unable to ping  default gateway of the maanagement  interface.. I can't seem  figure out why.

Your management is in VLAN 1, and that is the native vlan on the switch as well.

on the switch, do a switchport trunk native vlan 999.  then on the WLC tag the interface as VLAN 1.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for your replies  I fixed it by tagging  the management  vlan   since its in vlan 32 I  changed it from untagged.

On a different note I  got everything almost set up and the   APs are joining the controller  but  I do not see the  SSID when I  look at the available  wireless networks  on my notebook. Any  reeasons why ?

Thanks

From the WLC..

GUI >> WLAN >> WLAN EDIT >> General >> Broadcast >> Check.

I found out the problem  each WLAN had the same SSID I gave them each a unique ID  to characterize the building they covered  and that resolved it. Thanks for your time
