This is my first attempt to set-up a WLC so please bear with me...
My current set-up is as follows:-
WLC 5508 Version : - 6.0.199.4
Field Recovery Image Version:- 6.0.182.0
LAG : - Enabled ( during the initial set-up Wizard)
Port Configuration:-
Service Port : 10.10.3.100/24 (VLAN 3 )
Redundancy Port : 10.20.99.200/24(VLAN 4) currently not configured but will be eventually
Management Port : 10.30.99.100/24 (which I am assuming is also going to be used for AP registration - once I get WLC working )
Virtual Interface : - 192.168.0.1
Note: -
1. Currently VLAN identifier has been set to vlan 4 ) in the WLC config
2. Physical information tab indicates " The interface is attached to a LAG"
Out of the 8 SFP's I have only got 4 SFP inserted in the WLC. Out of which currently only two ports are patched to the switch to form the LAG. ( Port 1 + 2 are up and running )
Switch config:-
--------------------
For the LAG ports the Switch is configured as mode on + Trunk port and allowed all vlans. ( Ether Channel id = 1 ) ( UP for two members )
Native VLAN : - 100
My current Challenge
---------------------
1. Service port works fine
2. I cannot get connect to the Mgmt ip above i.e. "cannot ping it "?
3. I have tried with and without the VLAN identifier tab i.e as value 0 / 4 and it does not work ?
Once I get this working I would like to get my IOS upgraded before I proceed further but I am stuck here any help will be much appreciated.
cheers

Just trying to think out loud not sure if this is possible ..
I disable LAG and select port 1 for mgmt traffic only.
Enable LAG on the rest of the ports i.e. 2 - 8 ?
I did not get that option during the wizard so makes me believe this is not supported / possible.

I have now reset the WLC and ran the initial config wizard and decided not to use LAG
interface GigabitEthernet 2/0/23
description *** connected to WLC ***
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk
spanning-tree port-fast trunk
now I can ping the mgmt ip add from the switch. 🙂
However now I am thinking what do I do with the LAG config to get it all working ?
I will now try to get LAG configured and test once again..

It is interesting that now it all works with the same config on the switch and WLC.....
I did reboot it initially when I had the problem and now as I used the wizard initially and it reboots part of that ...and I did not use the wizard the second time around the only difference in the process....
I think the first thing I should do is get the IOS and FUS upgraded 🙂
