WLC 8.x dhcp bridging (no relay)

Good Day,

I am setting up a network that has 2 subnets/vlans...10.1.0.0/16 and 172.16.0.0/16

The management interface of the WLC, all APs and a server running DHCP are all on the 172.x.x.x subnet. The DHCP server is configured to serve up IPs to the 10.x.x.x subnet

The 10.x.x.x subnet is used by clients on a WLAN associated with vlan 10. The dynamic interface has dhcp proxy disabled.

The gateways for both subnets are configured on a cisco ASA. The ASA subnet10.x.x.x gateway interface is configured as a dhcp relay to the DHCP server on subnet 172.x.x.x

The dhcp relay works fine when connecting to a switchport configured on vlan10.

But, based upon a debug dhcprelay on the ASA, the discover packet does not reach the gateway interface.

My interpretation of the online documentation is that in bridging mode the broadcast will be bridged to the vlan associated with the WLAN, in this case vlan 10.

But then I would expect the ASA to relay the discover, and that's not happening.

Thoughts?

Thank you

Where the WLC is connected? Hows the switchport or the ASA port connecting to WLC is configured?

When you configure static IP for a client whats the behaviour?

Please note that it is not recommended to assign the same wireless management interface for client serving purpose as well.

It is not recommended

the ASA not understand native VLAN, so if native VLAN face issue change it to be not native VLAN and try again.
