WLC static IP with DHCP Pool

Hi All

I would like to assign the management IP addresses of my AP's with static IP addresses on the WLC .

I am wondering if I have an AP with an IP address of 192.168.1.50 and the DHCP scope is 192.168.1.50-100 will 192.168.1.50 automatically be excluded ? Or will it have a potential to cause an IP conflict .

I know there isnt an option to exclude an IP on the WLC , and trying to avoid moving it to the switch ( where I can reserve it) or having to chnage the IP of the AP and then add a pool outside of the static IP's of the AP's on the WLC .

Thanks

Craig

Yes it can cause IP conflict. I would say that is not best practice.

Either set a reservation in DHCP configuration so that the AP is always allocated the same address by the DHCP service, or set the AP with a static address that is outside the pool of addresses allocated by the DHCP service.
