Could someone please concisely explain to me the difference between the standard Bridge Mode on an AP and Workgroup Bridge Mode?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

WGB is used to connect wired only devices onto wireless network. Wired device will connect to Ethernet port of WGB & use WGB's wireless interface to connect to a given wireless network (SSID). It is common in moving environment (POS terminals, Cart on Wheels, Forklifts, mining trucks, etc)

Here are some examples of WGB configurations

Standard bridge (Root Bridge/Non Root Bridge) is like a trunk port between two switches to carry multiple vlans. Here are some reference post from my blog.

Bridge mode is for backhaul connection, like point to point or point to multi-point. WGB is when you have clients connected to an ap acting as a WGB and that device connected via a wireless connection to an access point.
