WPA3 and Wave 1 APs

Hi All

As far as I can see, WPA3 is not (yet) supported on the Wave 1 AP platform.

Does anybody know if that is on the roadmap or will that not be supported by the W1 platform at all?

I'm also very interested in the "Enhanced Open" feature for our guest-SSID, is that supported on the W1 platform?

Thanks

Patrick

 Restrictions on WPA3

  • WPA3 is not supported in Cisco Wave 1 (IOS-based) APs.

  • IPSK with SAE is not supported.

  • FT with SAE is not supported.

  • Remote LAN is not supported.

Thanks, that's what I have already seen and is the reason why I opened this post. Maybe somebody has newer information from one of the last Cisco Live shows or similar :)

The Wave 1 APs are End-of-sale for nearly one year now and End-of-life is not far away. I would not expect to see any WPA3 features on these devices.

Oh you're right, now that I have read the EoL notice I fear that this feature won't anymore be added. Kind of sad, but can't be helped I guess.

WPA3 is only supported in the new Catalyst 9k APs (and newer).

That would contradict what's written in the manual:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/8-10/config-guide/b_cg810/wlan_security.html#wpa3

Based on that it should be supported with the AC Wave 2 APs and also on the 5520/3504.
I haven't yet a device running 8.10.x, could you maybe check on your devices?

Thanks :)

Thanks a lot :)
So wave2 APs should indeed work with WPA3, at least something.
