It's interesting that on our FT1 tray in this chassis only two fans are spinning, as opposed to all of them on FT0. After looking around our network, I see a few more similar situations in other chassis. At first I assumed it was a power saving feature, but it's not looking that way on further inspection. There are no alarms, so is a fan tray considered "OK" until all fans are dead?

No, that is not great. There is supposed to be a syslog when the fan speed drops. You can try to reseat the fantray but more than likely you will need to RMA the fantray, individual fans are not field replaceable.

Thanks Sam. You're right, I can see that when we installed this router we received those messages. They were likely ignored at the time due to the other hundred messages that scroll across during the boot process. Thanks for the help.
