ASR9K - 4.3.4 Upgrade

Pedro Morais

Hello All,

I’m about to start the validation of the 4.2.3 to 4.3.4 upgrade process, but I need advice regarding the disk space needed. The PIEs that I need to install are about 430Mb, and the size I have free in the 9Ks is around 500Mb (after repartition).

Is this enough to add and activate 4.3.4 PIEs? Or should I remove the 4.2.3 SMUs first? What is the minimum space needed to install 4.3.4?

Thanks!

Regards,

Pedro

Given the packages you just mentioned it will take about 600MB of free space to upgrade and you only have 500MB free.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Pedro,

That does not sound like enough space.

Can you send a copy of the following?

show media

dir disk0:

show install active summary

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

Please check the outputs in the requested file.

Thanks,

Pedro

Hi Pedro,

I forgot to ask about the inactive packages but I was still able to compile and determine that the following packages are inactive on the router and already superseded.

    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCuh70427-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCui04034-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCug30234-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCue35606-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCue56003-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCuf32158-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCuf38249-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCud98419-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCuc04493-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCud37351-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCud54093-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCud07536-1.0.0
    disk0:asr9k-p-4.2.3.CSCub96985-1.0.0

Please use the install remove command from admin mode to remove these files from disk and let me know the new available disk space. I saw a few other SMUs which could be removed but they are currently active and only added up to around 20 or 30MBs.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

Actually no inactive packages...  However I would like to know what space do I need to add and activate the following packages:

asr9k-doc-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-fpd-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-k9sec-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-mcast-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-mgbl-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-mini-px.pie-4.3.4
asr9k-mpls-px.pie-4.3.4

Or what is the minimum free space needed to install XR 4.3.4.

Thanks,

Pedro

Given the packages you just mentioned it will take about 600MB of free space to upgrade and you only have 500MB free.

Thanks,

Sam
