Hello Everyone!!!

I am new to ASR 9000 series..

We are having 2 ASR 9006 routers and we are planning to upgrade IOS-XR from 4.2.3 to 6.5.3.

Can someone suggest which upgrade document to follow and the required SMUs to commit before the upgrade.

Thanks,

Mohammed Farooq.

This is the go-to thread for upgrades:

https://community.cisco.com/t5/service-providers-documents/ios-xr-release-strategy-and-deployment-recommendation/ta-p/3165422

That said, this is a big jump, so you'll definitely want to cover the release notes for 6.5.3.

Also, if you're running an RSP-440, you'll only be able to get to 6.4.2.

You will need to go to 5.3.x first, or turboboot the router.

What hardware are you running, RSP4G/8G and any -L,-T, -B, -E cards are not supported past 5.3.4, only -TR and -SE cards.
