Hi Tom,

I confirm that we don't have any plan to offer 100G to 10x10G breakout on the currently available CRS-X PLIMs (the 4x100GE PLIM, nor on the 2x100G+5x40G PLIM), but early next year we will introduce a IPoDWDM PLIM for CRS-X.

This PLIM will offer 2 ports 100G DWDM and 2 ports 100G "grey". The grey ports will support 100G to 10x10G breakout. That will be the only 100G breakout option on the CRS-X.

N.

This will be implemented for the CRS-X PLIM for 40G to 4x10G support.

HI osman

I found we can implement 100G to 10x10G,100G to 2x40G on crs-1,but not for 40G to 4x10G.

you mean by now we can't implement 40g to 4X10G support on CRS-1??

do we need special plim transceriver, such as QSFP-40G-SR4 ,or ios-xr version?

thank you!

Tom

Hi Tom,

first, I suppose you think about CRS-X here (CRS-1 is 11 year old and only use fabric offering only 40G per line card).

We don't support 10x10G and 2x40G on the CRS-X PLIM cards (4 ports 100G or the 100G ports of the 2x100G+5x40G PLIMs). It may have been said in the past, but it will not be implemented.

We only support 4x10G breakout on the 40G ports of the 2x100G+5x40G PLIM.

Kind regards,

N.

Hi Nicaolas,

   Thank you!

   i checked 2x100G+5x40G document, it said support 10x10G, 2x4G breakout and didn't said support 40G to 4X10G.

//We only support 4x10G breakout on the 40G ports of the 2x100G+5x40G PLIM.

Kind regards,

does this require special version of ios-xr and transceiver.

and can I config 4x10G breakout now, because I can't use command when i try to config 40G to 4x10G, It said no such command .

   thank you!

tom

Hi Tom,

Please send us the links to the doc where this is stated, we need to correct that mistake.

The 4x10G breakout is currently targeted (if it doesn't slip) to Nov 2016, so you can not configure it with today's versions.

BR,

N.

Nov 2016? that is a long time.

you mean may be i will wait for 1 years to config this feature?

sorry I can't find that doc again, because I seach it in bing.

But I found CPAK can support 100G to 10x10G , it's that true.

but it doesn't make sense to us, because we don't have CPAK

thank you!

Hi Tom,

sorry, typo, I meant Nov 2015.

Thanks for the link, I will check how to get this removed since it's not accurate on CRS. It is possible on ASR9000 with the 8x100G line card but not on the 4x100G line card for CRS-X (and not for the CFP-based 1x100G CRS-3 linecards).

The 40G to 4 x 10G breakout will be based on QSFP+ optics.

Thanks,

N.

QSFP+, that's great, we are using many QSFP+ on nexus platform.

We are testing 40G to 4x10G  by using breakout cable from nexus and connect to CRS. but unforturnately we couldn't find breakout command on CRS.

another question, you mean you don't have a roadmap for 100g to 10x10G breakout on CRS-X?

but we don't have 100G interface card on CRS,just a question.

thank you!

Tom

sorry what is mean of "grey"  does support ethernet interface?

Yes, grey is used to describe "normal 100GigabitEthernet" / "non-IPoDWDM" interfaces. Like the one you can find in the 1x100G PLIMs or 4x100G PLIMs.

Hi,Nicolas,

   Thank you!
