Hi all!
1)
We're actually planning / preparing the upgrade from our 4.3.x ASR9000 to 5.3.x. While performing an test upgrade, we noticed that the fpd upgrade for the rsp440 takes up to 30mins. In some documents, upgrading fpd's to the latest level is best practice but not necessary. What is the offical recommendation on this?
2)
While upgrading a brand new 9006 with 5.2.0 (factory installed) to 5.3.2 we had problems that the system went into an instable state. The software upgrade itself was successfull and we rebooted the system multiple times without any issues. After performing fpd upgrade and reload of the system, the active RSP was not coming properly online (not recognizing LCs, Standby RSP, Configuration). The other RSP was in rommon. We had no change to reboot the system (responded that it could not reboot), only power cycle was possible to recover the system. Anyone saw such behaviour?
brgds,
michel

1. It won't prevent the router from functioning, but we do make changes to the FPDs for good reason so I would highly recommend upgrading the FPDs. In newer releases, probably the next time you upgrade, you will see that the FPD upgrade time is/has been reduced.
2. Can you share the console / session logs from this?
