Hello,
I'm experiencing behavior on the NCS540 whereby interfaces which physically exist are being moved to preconfigured interfaces once configuration is added. Interfaces now "missing are ten0/0/0/2, ten0/0/0/3, ten0/0/0/17
Example
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:VFWR_NCS540(config)#int ten0/0/0/17
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:VFWR_NCS540(config-if)#description nopreconfigureplease
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:VFWR_NCS540(config-if)#commit

I have several of these same routers and have not experienced this same behavior. IN addition, there are some interfaces which had been configured at an earlier date on this same device are working correctly. Thoughts?

Hi Tony,
do you have a gigabit optic in port 17?
from the output it is displaying as a gig interface.
once you plug in a 10G optic it should change the port speed and name. then your configuration should apply correctly
