L2Transport command (IOS-XR)

Hello all.  Without having to go through tons of documentation (which I will at some point), i'm just trying to figure out what this command does when put on an interface?  For example, I notice I could apply a service policy directly under the interface, and then I could specify the l2transport and put the policy under there as well.  I'm assuming it's L3 and L2 difference but if someone could clarify this for me, I would appreciate it.

Also, does this need to be configured when putting an interface into a BVI?

Thanks all.

hi Michael,

"l2transport" enables L2 feature path in the NP microcode. You must define an (sub)interface as l2transport if you want to include it in a bridge domain.
