Not able to configure pseudowire under bridge-group

Hi,

I am configuring pseudowire under l2vpn bridge-domain, but when I am commiting the configuration, getting error as below

IOS XRv is control plane only. It doesn't support L2VPN. If you need L2VPN in virtual environment, you can use XRv9000.

I am able to configure l2vpn with xconnect but l2vpn with bridge-group/domain not possible.

xconnect is a simple connect of two pipes, while bridge-domain requires many more features which XRv doesn't support.

With a lot of help from my colleagues, I hope I have all the info that you need for this.

You can install XRv9000 from the VIRL installation itself in UWM (User Workspace Manager). From there, the procedure is

• 'VIRL Server' item in the left menu
• 'VIRL Software' menu item
• Select the 'Install' box for the IOS XRv 9000 image from the 'Cisco VM image upgrades' section / table
• Click 'Start Installation' at the top of that page

This will require Internet connectivity to the Salt infrastructure (which is needed for VIRL users anyway, so that should not be an issue). It will take a couple of minutes to download that file. After that, you should be able to use XRv 9000 images.

Note, however, that the current XRv 9000 image requires 8GB of memory and 2 vCPUs per node vs 3GB of memory and 1 vCPU for XRv classic. In addition, there is a known defect with the current version of XRv 9000 that prevents the VM to use the management network. This will be resolved in XR release 6.2.2, but the good news is that you can already use the 6.2.2 EFT image.

• To give you access to the 6.2.2 EFT image, please send me your CCO user ID through a private message. The steps to send a private message:
• Copy the name of the person you want to send the message to
• Go to your profile
• Go to Messages
• Click "New Message"
• Paste the recipient name
• write the message and send it

Indeed, I forgot to check the roadmap before replying. Support for L2VPN on XRv9000 will come in XR release 6.3. If you are using XRv9000 only in the lab, we can share soon an early code drop. Please contact me via private message for more details.

Unfortunately it seems that no L2VPN of any sort is going to be supported by the Cisco IOS-XRV platform, in order to run some tests I had to refer to commercial lab services with real lab gear.

That is correct. There are virtualization issues with l2 protocols, not just an XR issue.
