RSP880 SFP+ ports

Hello,

I am trying to find out, what are 4 SFP+ ports on RSP880. Can they be used for traffic. Do they have any limitations? If router is equipped with 2 RSPs, may both RSPs use their SFP+ ports or only the active RSP? I found this information in ASR9k hardware installation guide http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/iosxr/asr9000/hardware-install/hig/b-asr9k-hardware-installation-guide/b-asr9k-hardware-installation-guide_chapter_00.html:

SFP/SFP+ Port

The RSP-440 and RSP-440 Lite support two 10-GE Small Form-Factor Pluggable Plus (SFP+) virtualization cluster ports. The RSP-880 supports four 10-GE SFP+ ports that are used for external server connectivity capability.

I have to admit, that it is quite vague explanation. What is external server connectivity capability? I would appreciate more information about these ports.

Best regards,

Danil

Hi Danil

So when will these ports be able to be configured/used ?

Thanks

Still no plans. Originally on RSP440 these were used for cluster but on RSP880 we don't support cluster, we have yet to need these ports for any function.

As a matter of fact, sadly, as of RSP5 (Lightspeed commons) and RSP880-LT, these ports have been removed.  So I don't believe the SFP ports are ever going to be a thing on any roadmap.
