Hi,
I am planning to upgrade CRS-1 from existing 3.6 to 4.2. Since I cant do it directly to 4.2, I upgraded to interim XR version 3.8. I have done everything as explained in the URL "http://www.cisco.com/web/Cisco_IOS_XR_Software/index.html". I also upgraded all FPD as explained in "IOS-XR Firmware upgrade guide". But after I upgraded the XR, standby RP is not showing as "Ready" in RP redundancy. Moreover when I do show platform, standby RP is "Present" but the type is displayed as "Unknown".
What could be the cause of this.

Hello Arun,
We'd need to connect to the console of the standby RP to get its boot sequence in order to understand what is happening with it.

In which part of the upgrade did you lose the standby RP? Before or after upgrading the FPD and ROMMON? Also can you confirm that the standby was up when you upgraded the FPD and ROMMON? Are you getting any error messages on your console about the standby RP? It could be that the ROMMON version is too low and the card can not boot up at which point you would see error messages stating that the ROMMON revision is too low.
If that is not the issue then I would second Alexei and see what the standby RP does on bootup.
Thanks
Sam
