The choice between ASR1k and ASR9k

Hello

I'm the network engineer in service provider with 50000 subscribers.

We plan to change connection technology from pppoe to ipoe.

So we decided to buy ASR routers. But we still can't choose between ASR1k and ASR9k.

Our needs: 50000 concurrent ipoe connections, policing for each connection.

The maximum amount of traffic is about 70Gbit\s.

No nat, no bgp, only routing between local networks and couple default routes to the internet.

I suppose two ASR1006 with RP2, ESP100, two SIP40 with 10gig SPA will meet our requirements.

And there is the opportunity for further growth.

Is it possible to do the same on ASR9k? Is RSP440 powerful enough?

Konstantin,

An ASR9k with SE based linecards and RSP440s would be more than enough to handle what you are requesting.

I recommend reading the BNG deployment guide.
