When IOS XR release is in preparation, we are building an image for internal test purposes every week. The version number of the weekly build is the fourth nibble. When the testing is completed and we are ready to post the binaries to cisco.com, we cut the fourth nibble.

In other words, this is how to decompose 6.2.1.25i:

  • 6.2: major release number
  • 1: minor release number
  • 25i: pre-release (internal) version number.

Hope this clarifies,

/Aleksandar
