Dear Cisco Support Community,

We have a SRE910 on Cisco2911 to be installed with WAAS. I have downloaded the newest package "waas-sre-installer-5.0.3a.7-k9", and extract it on FTP server.

When i issue installation command, it start with installation process. From FTP server i can see that SRE download file .sre, .header and .installer.

However the process just stop without any notification for more than one hour.

This is the last status of WAAS installation:

service-module sm1/0 status

Service Module is Cisco SM1/0

Service Module supports session via TTY line 67

Service Module is trying to recover from error

Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled

Service Module status is not available

Module resource information:

  CPU Frequency: 1865 MHz

  Memory Size: 2530 MB

  Disk 0 Size: 500107 MB

  Disk 1 Size: 500107 MB

  Disk 2 Size: 2055 MB

Install of ftp://*****:*****@10.110.110.253/waas-sre-installer-5.0.3a.7-k9/waas-accelerator-5.0.3a.7-k9.bin in progress

Install status : File waas-accelerator-5.0.3a.7-k9.bin.install.sre requested

No local partition

We have tried with other WAAS image: waas-sre-installer-4.2.3.7-k9, however it cant be installed correctly. It return error message:

Loading waas-sre-installer-4.2.3.7-k9/waas-accelerator-4.2.3.7-k9.bin.install.sre !

[OK - 1722/4096 bytes]

Welcome to the WAAS installation checking resource requirements now

Resource check complete proceeding with installation

Execution of script waas-accelerator-4.2.3.7-k9.bin.install.sre failed, installation aborted

When i abort installation and do a session to SRE, it always reboot endlessly. I am wondering if i got a hardware failure.

Please help.

BR,

Imad

Hi Imad,

IOS is good, which software was installed on the SRE when it came in?

Was it UCS?

If so, can you first set the SRE mode to IDE by using the hardware utility as described under the following link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/sre_v/1.1/user/guide/software.html#wp1079944

Then try to install the WAAS software again?

Nicolas

Hi Imad,

What is the command you are using to install the software?

Can you make sure you specify the  when you launch the install:

service-module sm install url argument sata-mode=ide

Regards,

Nicolas

Dear Nicolas,

I use command: service-module sm 1/0 install url ftp://

I also have tried to use argument sata-mode=ide on two different SRE version 5.0.3 and 4.4.5 but still no luck

Any other possibility you can mention?

Thanks

Imad

Hi Imad,

You are mentioning that the SRE is requesting the files on the FTP server.

Can you make sure that the download of those files is successful and and that the FTP connection is not timing out in the middle of the download?

Regards,

Nicolas

Dear Nicolas,

The FTP server is on same campus network, and i can download the files sucessfully.

I tried to session the SRE during installation, it says:

Unrecognized or non-functioning hardware.  Initialization cannot proceed.

Hi Imad,

Which IOS are you running on the hosting router?

Regards,

Nicolas

Dear Nicolas,

First,i tried using IOS: c2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-3.T1.bin.

Then i tried newer IOS: c2900-universalk9_npe-mz.SPA.152-4.XB10.bin.

The SRE is brand new, i just opened from the box yesterday
