Retrieving an archieved recording for playback

Assume that there are recordings that are one year old and we have downloaded them (using a windows service) and archived them in our local servers. If we want to play a recording from the archived items how can we play that?

     If you have the NBR playback application installed, you would open the recording as any other file on your computer and it would launch the playback application to view it. If you need to view the file on a computer without the NBR playback application, you would need to convert the ARF to either FLV, MP4, or WMV using the NBR playback file and provide the converted file to the end user.

The recordings cannot be given to the end user due to our client's intellectual property rights, they are only able to view from the cloud. So how can this be achieved? Even if we re-upload the recording to the cloud, they do not provide a streaming URL in the site, only a download link is available for recordings that were uploaded to the site.

Hello,

     NBR is stored as several separate data sources until download. Once downloaded, the NBR is packaged as an ARF file that no longer supports streaming. A remote ARF can be played back on a machine that has the NBR playback application previously installed, but it is a simulated playback as the file is downloaded to a temporary directory. In order to retain streaming capability, you will either need to leave the NBR files on the server to begin with, or convert the downloaded ARF to MP4, WMV, or FLV.

As per your comment, "In order to retain streaming capability, you will either need to leave the NBR files on the server to begin with", can we stream the arf files from our servers? Is it possible? Please provide us some options.

Hi Lushanthan,

The NBR format is proprietary and requires our servers to stream it.  If you require streaming capabilities from your own server, it would be best to convert the ARF files to another common format (i.e. MP4 / WMV / FLV).  You would then be able to upload and stream this from your own server.
