We are working  deployment of jabber application to all of our users. I see one of the notice about EOL

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/unified-communications/jabber-windows/eos-eol-notice-listing.html

End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco Jabber Guest for FLEX subscriptions

We are using Jabber Version 14.2.0.58008 Build 308008  with IMP System version: 12.5.1.16900-3

Do you think we are impacted on this notice?

Thanks!

Yes. it uses srv  discovery like jabber. I have just registered a Webex users in the hub to cucm. I can make calls to on premise desk phones and jabber. it is almost the same as jabber on premise and jabber MRA. When i am in my organization, the phone services in the webex will be active. when i am outside the network, it registers via the expressway series

if i subscribe for webex suite plan, i can have additional features like Meeting and cloud calling (webex calling).

Does anyone know the maximum no of concurrent calls that cloud calling can support?

Are you saying here the Webex App (what is this particular install)?  Is it like Jabber?  You are also stating it works off the same configuration as Jabber.  Is that something easily configurable?  How would adjust this app to work like Jabber in place of making calls?

Look at this presentation from Cisco Live for detailed information on this. BRKCOL-3009

Thank you but I was expecting a more direct approach to the questions I had asked.  I do appreciate the lengthy article, lots of it might pertain to what I need.  I will keep looking it over.

there are some cases where the requirements call for a softphone without internet dependencies.

Jabber is still the only supported client for this

exactly. In a less developed countries, where some companies make use of low speed internet connection ,JABBER becomes paramount

Hello, I deployed Cisco Jabber Guest 11.2.1 in my lab. I was able to download the web addon and the extension for chrome browser. Some days later , i noticed could neither download the web addon or install extension for chrome .

I got this error 404 when i clicked the download button

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jbglbakaieakcdiaiabbihafndhapfki

the above url was not found

I have tried on different pc but still the same error 404

I decided try on firefox.  The download icon didn't load. I  checked the mozilla  firefox extension and added the plugin.

I searched the chrome extension store  for  the jabber guest but no success

Has Cisco finally moved to webrtc?

any contribution will be appreciated

Jabber Guest is past support and is discontinued. For more information see here. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/unified-communications/jabber-windows/jabber-guest-flex-eol.html

Thanks a lot for the prompt response.Could that be the reason why the
plugin is not found in the chrome. It was found before when I first tested
it. However the plugins are still found in iOS and android stores
It seems Cisco is migrating to instant connect which uses webrtc.

Yes we this one, currently but my rank is looking to get rid of it.  It's not widely used, unless by the IT department as of present.  I can't find anything that is comparable to it, without having to incur extra or more cost for something to do the job of what Jabber does presently.

WebEx Instant connect  should be the application replacing jabber guest but it's another actually doing what jabber guest is doing . For on premises solution, you can integrate webrtc via a sip gateway to your CUCM endpoint. A user can click on a web link and make calls to the CUCM endpoint via sip gateway. CUCM does not handle webrtc calls. It can't convert web sockets to sip signals. This is what a sip gateway does. Some sip gateways that handle that are Asterisk and Opensips. You create a trunk and dial.plan between the sip gateway and CUCM

I will have to research the Webex Instant, but the better question is what is Jabber Guest?  Are you referring to a scaled down version of it, because I don't believe I am running guest.  Can you explain?  Can you say this is an alternative solution for this version of Jabber (Version 15.0.1.59513 Build 309513)?  With all of the acronyms used, I will have to look around and see the solutions you are recommending.  In addition, let me be clear, the idea is to use something more practical.  If Jabber is going away fully.  A lot of our IT staff use Jabber, in place of a desktop phone.  Saves on the buying cost of a phone, verses software.

Jabber guest is not the same as the  jabber client for windows you are referring to.
The jabber client is not actually going away but WebEx has more features
than the jabber client .I don't  know if Cisco will eventually deprecate it. In WebEx , there are some features that are not in jabber client. For example ,you can't flag or quote a message. The phone service on WebEx still work the same way jabber client works but the  messaging feature is in the cloud .If you don't have access to the Internet, you can't chat
On the other hand ,jabber guest is for Customer to Business dialing. Jabber guest provides call link which you can integrate on your website. So a customer/guest to the site can click on the call link and make calls to your CUCM end
point . That is what jabber guest is all about. It's phases out. Cisco no longer supports it. So jabber guest is  a different application. It is not the soft phone (Cisco jabber ) that you make use of to make calls like the Desk phones

Good to hear, so for the time being we can continue to use Jabber.  It does seem we have two options moving forward, if we decide to move off of Jabber.  If and when Cisco deems it not cost worthy, it gets decommissioned.  As they normally do when they are not making money off it (lol).  Teams is one option, because we use it widely for chatting and meetings now, and with a license we can integrate it into the CUCM (no simple instructions for this setup to be found).  Of course, Webex, the other option which Cisco might push onto their clients, as their only choice, but we will see.  Thanks for the input, very helpful and I will see how we proceed from here.
