All:
I haven't been able to get embedded tabs to show up in Jabber for windows with the following xml code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<config version="1.0">
<Client>
<jabber-plugin-config>
<browser-plugin>
<page refresh="false" preload="true">
<tooltip>Cisco WebEx</tooltip>
<icon></icon>
<url>http://www.webex.com</url>
</page>
<page refresh="true" preload="true">
<tooltip>Cisco</tooltip>
<icon></icon>
<url>http://www.cisco.com</url>
</page>
<page refresh="true" preload="false">
<tooltip>Cisco Jabber for Windows</tooltip>
<icon></icon>
<url>http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/voicesw/ps6789/jabber_windows.html</url>
</page>
<page refresh="false" preload="false">
<tooltip>Cisco Jabber</tooltip>
<icon></icon>
<url>http://www.cisco.com/web/products/voice/jabber.html</url>
</page>
</browser-plugin>
</jabber-plugin-config>
</Client>
<Directory>
<PhotoUriSubstitutionEnabled>true</PhotoUriSubstitutionEnabled>
<PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>sAMAccountName</PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>
<PhotoUriWithToken>http://10.51.107.108/sAMAccountName.jpg</PhotoUriWithToken>
</Directory>
</config>
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Can you verify that the config file "jabber-config.xml" is downloading and is present in this folder:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Config
Please note that name the file must be "jabber-config.xml" and it is case sensitive.
Thanks,

Maqsood:
I've tried adding the code for the tabs in the jabber-config.xml file as well as the group configuration file however neither has worked.
Both files are being downloaded by the client as vm credentials are using login credentials through the global config and photo Uri substitution is working through the group config.
Thanks,
Paul

Maqsood:
After my last reply I was able to have the tabs show up after exiting the client completely rather than signing out.
The odd part was that later on that day I added icons to my tabs. After not being satified with icons I removed them from the config and signed out for the day.
The next day when I signed in the tabs would not show up again. I verified that my XML code was still valid; however the tabs would not show.
Today I signed in, without updating either xml file and the tabs are present again.
I will monitor the situation to see if they are present tomorrow.
Thanks,
Paul

All:
As a follow up, the tabs consistently showed in my Jabber client for the 2 days following my last post; however this morning the tabs were missing again without any configuration changes.
After exiting the client and signing back in, they were present again.
Thanks,
Paul

To add to this -
We run 9.0.4 Jabber Windows client installed working to CUP 8.6.4 abd CUCM 7.1.3.
I have created a jabber-config.xml file which blocks files transfers, links Jabber credentials with Phone Services credentials and provides links to a couple of internal web site.
The jabber-config.xml file is present in the
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Config folder.
Block file transfer and Jabber credential link with Phone Services seems to be fine i.e. works all of the time, but the embedded tabs for the internal sites appearing seem to be a random event - some uses have them some of the time, exiting and re-loading Jabber usaully brings them back, but next day they will dissappear again.
Also, with Jabber 9.0.4 a Meetings tab appeared (even though we've no calendar integration yet) which also comes and goes along with the embedded tabs I have set up in the jabber-config.xml file, so I'm assuming that it's not a problem with jabber-config.xml file as such, but the client itself.

Hi Kelvin,
Can you open a support case with Cisco TAC for tab disappearance problem? This has been reported a few times now. Jabber team is interested to investigate this further as it is not reproducible in our internal setup.
Thanks,
Maqsood

Hi Maqsood
Thnaks for the update, sorry for the slow response, - I've been away from work and will be so for the next three weeks or so. I'll look at raising a TAC case when I'm back in November - unless 9.1 is out by then and upgrading to 9.1 fixes the issue (we still get it with 9.0.5)

Hi Kelvin,
Jabber for Windows 9.1 Beta is available to download via Early Adopter Program (EAP). To join our EAP group you should be able to follow the steps outlined in our Collaboration User Group space. If you do not have access to this space then please go ahead and sign up via the following link (involved completing 2 surveys – EAP and J4W EAP)
- https://communities.cisco.com/community/technology/collaboration/eap_signup
Thanks,

Hi All,
I implemented an embedded tab with reference to this thread.
An icon is displayed in the tab.
However, when I click the icon, a site is diplayed in the windows of Jabber.
Could you tell me how to open the site in a browser (IE, Firefox, etc.)?

Hi Maqsood
An update to my post on 21 Aug - since upgrading to 9.1 client the disappearing embedded tabs issue looks like it's fixed. I've been using 9.1 for a few weeks now and they appear every time.

Kelvin

Hello. I found this post as I'm having the same issue with Jabber 9.7.0.
Here is my jabber-config.xml file. When I add the jabber-plugin-config section, two things happen:
1. The custom tab does not show up at all
2. My docked window position reverts to the center location
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<config version="1.0">
<Client>
<jabber-plugin-config>
<browser-plugin>
<page refresh="false" preload="true">
<tooltip>Jabber FAQs</tooltip>
<icon></icon>
<url>http://it.service.agilent.com/Pages/Service.aspx?SID=45&TOPTAB=2</url>
</page>
</browser-plugin>
</jabber-plugin-config>
</Client><Directory>
<parameter>value</parameter>
</Directory>
<Options>
<ShowContactPictures>false</ShowContactPictures>
<DockedWindowPosition>TopLeft</DockedWindowPosition>
<AllowUserCustomTabs>false</AllowUserCustomTabs>
</Options>
<Phone>
<parameter>value</parameter>
</Phone>
<Policies>
<enableLocalAddressBookSearch>false</enableLocalAddressBookSearch>
<EnableSIPURIDialling>false</EnableSIPURIDialling>
</Policies>
<Presence>
<parameter>value</parameter>
</Presence>
<Voicemail>
<parameter>value</parameter>
</Voicemail>
</config>
Can you tell me if I am missing something? I've restarted/rebooted to no avail. Thank you.
