I have been given two different upgrade paths and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. First path was change the vCPU and HDD space as appropriate then perform the version upgrade. The second was to start with a fresh OVA template, install 12.5 and use DRS to move the configuration over.
They both sound like valid options, not sure what would be the issue with either path.
Thanks in advance

Only the first option would be applicable as you can not do a restore of a backup made on one version on a difference version.

Thank you Roger, that makes sense.

If moving to smart licenses as part of the upgrade at what pointed are you prompted to do so?

After the upgrade is complete and you login to the web interface the first time. You will get 90 days to complete the smart licensing process though, so you don't need to do actually complete it at that time, just that you need to select the kind of license you will use. E.g., Flex or Classic.

Thanks, I have the Smart Licensing all squared away and waiting. I was misinformed that there was a "one time chance" to get the smart licensing entered at some point during the upgrade process. I know for CER it behaved exactly as your described. Never done a UCCX upgrade so I am trying to get everything in order and limit the number of surprising I face.
Thanks again

Why would you change the vCPU? Are you moving from 300 Agent OVA? If so, are you going to 100 or 400? Also, did you read the upgrade guide?

We are using the 300 agent template currently and that seems to be defunct so I need to go with the 400 agent template. Which will require the additional CPU and RAM.
I did read the upgrade guide but still had some things I wanted to clarify. And will most likely have a few more.
The upgrade guide only speaks to the RAM increase, not CPU, but the Virtualization reference guides indicates both need to be increased.

Oh I see, yeah, I can't believe they dropped the 300 Agent OVA. It's actually the best bang for your buck, as long as you're not on a business edition 6000. Alright, well, I'm glad to hear you have the guide, and it's cool that you're here asking for help. I wish you the best on the upgrade. Good luck!
